How Would You like to Be a “Bible Story Grandma?"

The Adult Education/Discipleship Team, in response to an initiative coming out of the recent “Life on Life Women’s Workshop,” is planning an exciting new ministry and we need volunteers to make it happen.

We’re calling this ministry “Bible Stories with Grandma” and the plan is to have guest readers share Bible Stories with the children in the Toddler Nursery on Sunday mornings. When the nursery is available to toddlers, guest readers would be invited to share a Bible story with the children. The stories would be read during the first 10-15 minutes of the church service, making it possible for the readers to return to the Sanctuary in time for the sermon.

The nursery workers will still be responsible for child care, but the reader would provide the children with a nurturing Bible story experience. The current plan is to have the Bible Story Grandmas sign up and be scheduled to read on the date or dates of their choosing. It’s our prayer that this ministry will demonstrate the congregation’s love for our children, their parents, and the nursery workers as well.

We would like to launch this program with a bit of a “soft-start” in order to iron out any “bugs.” So, for the summer, we’re asking interested women to sign up on the “Bible Stories with Grandma” sign-up sheet located on the Adult Activities Bulletin Board. For further information, contact BSG coordinator Faye DeVries at 481-4992. Your day to read could be any Sunday in June, July, or August. Once we pick a date, all the details will be worked to your satisfaction.

Please consider sharing your love for the children through this exciting new ministry.
