Evangelical Free Church: We are all sleeping on the floor in different rooms of the church. Pack an overnight bag with your sleeping pad, sleeping bag, toiletries, and change of clothes. No showers will be available.
Noah’s Ark: Weatherport Tent for the Basecamp Participants all week. The Backpack Participants will also be in the Weatherport Tents when they are at Noah’s Ark.
Backpacking: Tents Noah’s Ark provides. If you’d like to bring a hammock, you may do so.
-
Showers are available for use while staying at Noah’s Ark. It does cost $0.50 for 5 minutes of water. Bring quarters for this. Soap and shampoo may be used like you normally would in these facilities.
While hiking, you will be required to pack out what you bring in. Should the need arise to go, you will dig a hole, fill it, and cover it up. Toilet paper and feminine hygiene products can not be buried and need to be packed out. Noah’s Ark has a proven method to do this that involves duct tape and Ziploc bags, so please make sure to bring those items from the equipment list.
In addition, while on the trail, no soap or shampoo is allowed. Additionally, no deodorant either. To clean yourself on the trail, pack a small bottle of hand sanitizer, baby wipes, and a bandanna. Depending on the trail, you may have the opportunity to rinse off in a body of water.
-
You will be responsible for six meals on the way to and from Colorado. We will stop for lunch, dinner, breakfast and lunch on the way to Noah’s Ark. On the way home we will stop for dinner, breakfast and lunch. Lunch on the way home will be provided for you.
All meals once we arrive at Noah’s Ark will be provided. You are welcome to bring snacks and granola/protein bars to supplement what you’re given, especially on the trail if you are a picky eater. If you do choose to do this, make sure your food items (candy too) are in Ziploc bags. Last time we went, the food was very good, even on the trail.
-
Additional supplies will be needed for this trip: sleeping bag, sleeping pad, hiking shoes/boots, etc. Noah’s Ark will supply all the backpacks, tents, and cooking supplies for the backpack trips. Check out the packing list for additional details. Also note, you will need money for six meals on the way to and from Colorado.
-
There is very little electricity available for use while at Noah’s Ark and none available on the trail. Additionally, electronics can be a big distraction from building relationships and spending time with God. Thus, no cell phones, dvd players, handheld video games, etc will be allowed on the trip. Each group will have leaders who will be taking photos and videos to capture the memories of the week. We will be collecting phones prior to boarding the bus and vans.
-
Since students will not be able to have phones, you will need to contact Brian in case of an emergency.

Spiritually, we will be spending time with God in creation, taking time to read and pray individually, and worship together. To help us prepare for this, we are going to be working through a Bible reading plan on Psalms leading up to the trip. The link for the Bible App plan is below.
Physically, both trip experiences will be challenging. I advise you to build your strength and endurance. To that end, a physical readiness program has been created for you to complete over the next 9 weeks. Have fun with this. Do it as a family or with others on the trip.
Check out the highlight video below from our last trip to get an idea of what you will be experiencing.
